The Texans To Retire 80?
Posted on 07 November 2016
As you may have heard by now, former Houston savior Andre Johnson retired this season after 7 games with the Tennessee Titans. Johnson was more than a WR to most houstonians though. He was the will of our team in the bronze Era that had people whispering "if only we had a decent QB", he was and still is Santa Claus to a bunch of children every year around this time, even if he has to FaceTime in the Toys'R'Us. We never really blamed him when he started getting hurt because he was carrying an entire city on his back!
Well now Texans owner, Bob McNair, says that they "want him to come back & retire as a Texan." When asked if they'd retire his #80 McNair added "It's definitely a possibility. We're going to have a Hall of Fame for them and recognition in the stadium for them, but we have to decide if we want to retire jerseys."
Johnson, 34, was drafted No. 3 overall in the 2003 NFL Draft and played 12 seasons with the Texans. In those 12 seasons he posted 1,012 receptions for 13,597 yards and 64 touchdowns while also making Pro Bowls 7 times and was first-team All-Pro twice.
